The Well Team want to share their skills and experience in the local community to help keep people safe and well. We offer individuals and organisations the opportunity to learn suicide intervention and prevention skills as well as a range of other courses designed to promote positive emotional health and wellbeing.

Suicide Prevention and Intervention Training

We know that talking about suicide can be daunting due to the level of stigma that still exists in our community. Our training is delivered by trained facilitators who will support and reassure you whilst you learn.

The training we provide aligns with LivingWorks Education which means we deliver safeTALK and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training). These workshops focus on a community-wide, collaborative approach that empowers everyone to play a role.

We feel it is vital that everyone trained by The Well is aware that we are more than a training provider. Usually, other organisations deliver training and then leave…fair enough really! However, if The Well is delivering training within our area or surrounding community, we ensure we are available for any queries or issues arising.

We also connect safeTALK and ASIST trained people, so everyone knows the flow for their community or organisation.  We believe this is really important and a vital way to ensure a suicide safer community for everyone.

safeTALK

  • 3.5hrs Workshop

Participants who attend a safeTALK workshop will learn what to do if someone discloses, they are experiencing thoughts of suicide. They will do so by following the easy to remember TALK steps – Tell, Ask, Listen and Keep-safe. These practical steps offer immediate help to someone having thoughts of suicide and helps you both move forward to connect with more specialised support.

The safeTALK workshop was developed by LivingWorks Education in Canada and is delivered worldwide. It compliments the more comprehensive 2-day ASIST course by conveniently widening the net of suicide alert helpers to ensure that thoughts of suicide aren’t missed, dismissed or avoided. The safeTALK workshop is based on the principles of maximum dissemination and minimum cost.

For more information about this safeTALK, please visit the safe TALK page at LivingWorks.net.

We can deliver safeTALK to a maximum of 30 people at a time. If you or your organisation are interested in attending a safeTALK workshop, please get in touch.

ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)

  • 2 full consecutive days (9-4.30pm both days)

LivingWorks ASIST is a two-day face-to-face workshop featuring powerful audio-visuals, discussions, and simulations.

At a LivingWorks ASIST workshop, you’ll learn how to prevent suicide by recognizing signs, providing a skilled intervention, and developing a safety plan to keep someone safe for now.

Our knowledgeable and supportive trainers will guide you through the course, ensuring your comfort and safety.

ASIST must be delivered over two consecutive days. Our team can facilitate this during the week or over a weekend.

If you or your organisation are interested in attending an ASIST workshop, please get in touch with us.

The Well also offers organisations, community groups and workplaces the opportunity to have bespoke training designed specifically for their needs. Delivery can be in a location to suit your organisation, at a time that works for you!
